The Valley of the Kings. Names don't get much more evocative than that, do they? Price of admission gets you inside three tombs; for the ones you've heard of, you have to pay more. It doesn't matter, all are amazing.
First off is a model of what the valley looks like above and below.
We knew we were going to the tomb. For some reason we didn't realize we'd meet the boy king himself. Also note that this is one of the smallest of all the tombs in the valley.
Tut's immediate next-door-neighbor in eternity is Ramses IX, whose tomb is one of the biggest and most impressive. But it's not a contest, right?
We visited four other tombs, but without looking at my metadata I can't really tell which is which. So I'll just lump them all together here. You weren't here for the history lesson, anyway, right?
Not technically in the Valley of the Kings but close by is the temple of Ramses III at Medinet Habu. Like the pyramids that aren't at Giza, this temple is just as amazing as anything else but not as famous, so you can explore it and be pretty much the only person there.
