We left Uganda in a a bit of an unexpected rush—we had a long chat with the boys explaining why we were determined to ride out the pandemic in Kampala, and then literally the next day we told them that we needed to pack. Crazy times. We came to Massachusetts because there was an empty house we could use, and stayed there to deal with the uncertainty.
Unfortunately, I left my camera behind, and so I could only take pictures on my phone, which isn't really my thing. So I took very few pictures. We also left the dog and all of our possessions, so I can't complain about the camera thing. Anywhere, here are the best of the very few pictures I took.
Bike rides and remote learning.
The actual Sagamore Beach, where we spent a lot of time, even though it was cold until the end of June.
Cape Cod Canal, baking soda snowman, beach.
We had lobster, bought a trampoline, and yes, it snowed in April.
I did one day take a stab at taking pictures. I really miss my camera, though.
Oh, and we fought some battles in the yard. And also graffitied a tree.
Asa poses for pictures. Julian usually doesn't.
More Sagamore Beach.
Gray's Beach. A whole different beach. Warmer water.
Julian got a butterfly. Asa wore a mask that I stitched myself. And one time I rode my bike over the Sagamore Bridge so I could ride the path on the other side of the canal.
In June we managed to bring Luna over from Kampala. It was a bit of a nightmare trip but she forgave us eventually and took over all of the couches.
We're going to move to Egypt eventually. We don't know when. But someday. In the meantime, we're leaving Sagamore and heading to Carolina. Still without a camera, still without an end an in sight. But it isn't so bad, considering.
