This is the monuments portion of our tour: the Vatican, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, and Colosseum. Not pictured are the requisite visits to McDonald's and the Lego Store.
The Vatican Museums were much more extensive than the little map they give out lets on, so though we planned to take the 'long course,' we were exhausted before we even reached the part where the long course and short course split, so we just bombed our way out of there.
In between these two photos is the Sistine Chapel, but photography isn't allowed there. So the bookends must stand in as proof.
Right behind the Castel Sant'Angelo is, as far as we can tell, the only bone-fide playground in the city center.
Along the banks of the Tiber.
Gelato, Piazza del Popolo.
Asa's hat, tiny car, paper airplanes in Piazza Navona.
The Pantheon.
Trevi Fountain. Wishes made. (There's nothing wrong with Asa's head; I used a wide-angle lens, and squishing his head was the price it made me pay.)
The Spanish Steps. We did attempt to fly paper airplanes here, too, but there were a lot of cops watching so we hopped on the train and left.
We did the full tour of the Colosseum, including the underground and the top seats. The Forum, though, has a confusing line, and we were really too tired to move anymore, so we just looked out from the street and called it a day. Lame, maybe, but there's a lot of Rome, and only a little of us. We'll check it out next time.
